i was talking to james at a party last week, and i mentioned this project. he said "wow, i don't even know anybody who owns a gun." after a few seconds, his girlfriend said "you own a gun. there's that gun in the closet."
james isn't really interested in guns. he doesn't particularly like them.
a few years ago he was comissioned to make a sculpture of a duck hunter for a hunting club in missouri. rather than make a gun out of clay, he just bought one and made a mold from it. after the bronze was cast, he reclaimed the body of the sculpture for a piece he's working on now. the gun, sat in a bag in a closet. |

I like that as an entry to the book - someone who owns a gun, but has no interest in them whatsoever.
Cheers!
I like the dog in the back of the room... I love how you're incorporating pets. Neat addition to your very interesting collection.
Not sure I'm OK with someone who actually forgot he had a gun in the house. Doesn't sound very safe to me. I hope it's not loaded.
He should probably NOT have a firearm in his house if he doesn't know exactly what to do with it. He should...
...give it to YOU, perhaps?
Or me...
I was more piqued by the fact the muzzle was pointing right at Kyle (till I realized the shotgun was in two pieces).
yeah, it's also the not-dangerous end of the barrel.
loaded? of course it's not loaded, look, i'll show --- KABLAM! (Deleted comment)
i'm planning on them letting us camp in their yard with the BOB.
I love hearing the stories behind the pictures. :)
that's what makes it interesting isnt' it? thanks for taking the time to post.
let's take him to shoot some big fruit and maybe he'll like them then! :)
by the way, when are you moving? i need to photograph you for my book. i'm headed through nashville to get oleg probably the end of next month.
Photograph me for you book? Hehe, do I get to hold lots of cool guns? :)
The earliest I'm moving is the end of May, it's really hard to say right now...
duh. of course!
i'll probably be through tn and georgia in june.
he looks happier in the other pic. | |
