Thank you! I was wondering what that was all about.
Thank you. I have reposted it. :)
You are now officially the Best LJ Rep ever...though granted the bar's pretty low on that one. ;)
~M~
They've also been keeping status current on this issue. Very handy... and that URL can be visited when the rest of LJ is down, to find out why!
Thanks, I just got an e-mail alert about 17 hours late. I'll repost, too.
Good to know cause I was racking my brain trying to figure out what the problem was. Thought it was on my end.
:)
a huge queue
12 million messages at last count -- and that's just my in-box.
I may have to steal your avatar.
Thanks for the update. My back notifications have started arriving today in dribs and drabs. You are an excellent rep. Thank you for caring.
You are an excellent rep.I'll echo this sentiment by saying that kylecassidy has performed well thus far in his tenure, but I would personally prefer more shaking of the establishment.
if we can get a backup and restore working before some hacker deletes my account, i'll consider the establishment shaken up enough.
but if there's something particular you think needs shaking, let me know, it's what i'm here for.
well, it's one of the things.
if we can get a backup and restore working At the present time, this is the only thing I can think of that needs shaking.
that's my number one goal. i feel a bit like i'm walking on the edge of a cliff. wake up every morning and have a look -- ah, ten years of LJ still there. wshew!
I've been thinking the same thing about my Xanga. Granted, there's only about 5 years of material there and they do have a away for me to archive the raw text. I don't remember if it archives the comments or not. The thing is, blogs are a hard thing to try and archive. I know that when Xanga does it, all you get is the text. They don't even make an attempt to give you your background nor any of the profile pictures along-side comments, so it's difficult to use what is archived as an off-line version of a blog. Then there's the whole other matter or backing up to restore. Ok, just because my presentation settings and content are saved, does this include all the comments that I have received? Even though those comments were given to me by someone else, I still that that since they were willingly given, they should be able to be restored on my blog even if during the restoration there is a namespace conflict caused by introducing a username that is not currently in the system or because someone has shut their site down, had their username purged and someone else has picked it up. An example of my first point would be if Live Journal were to implement the backup feature and publish their code. Then let's say that Dead Journal were to upgrade to the latest version of Live Journal. Theoretically, I could back up my LJ and move it to DJ. In doing so, the users will not all be the same. How then, does the backup and restore process retain comments that were left on my LJ but allow them to be shown on DJ? These are just some of the angles on the back up and restore concept that need to be addressed. I'd love to be a fly on the wall during these discussions, but I was neither elected nor do I have the necessary credentials to intelligently comment on this issue to a governing body. I think I've brought up these concerns before on your journal, so if I'm starting to sound like a broken record, please tell me to go play in traffic.
Thanks for the update on this. I'm surprised that they didn't say something about this in lj_maintenance. I do know, however, that I made a post in a community today and didn't get an email when someone responded to my post. Now I know why, though I did get the email a little while ago, 7.5 hours after the comment was left. P.S. Whatever happened to that meeting that was supposed to take place in September? Is there any other advisory news to speak of at the moment? Finally, could we get a post on your thoughts of the job six months in?
indeed, we had the meeting in september, there was a big period where the non-disclosure agreement wasn't either to me, or signed, or back to them, but that's taken care of. this week i'm hoping to have another meeting where we'll go over point by point what's taken place (inre my "platform"), how much progress has been made, what's left to do, what extra things have happened, and i'll have a big post about that, hopefully next week.
They've already rolled out some of the things I asked for, others are in the works. overall, i'm pleased.
mmmm, progress.
It's amazing how much perception colors reality. For instance, if nothing is reported back, it is assumed that nothing has been done. Discussion of a non-disclosure agreement does ring a bell, however.
They never told me not to post, I just wasn't sure what parts of our discussion were covered under the NDA, but I'm going to work with them, hopefully this week, to find out what I can't mention and also to find out from them exactly where they are since our september meeting.
Speaking solely for myself, I got a huge number of noti-s today (over 200, mostly to tell me that so-and-so was given a snowflake cookie or whatever). So it seems that MY notifications are finally coming through again. LOL
*blink* The user rep being helpful 0_o Are you sure your allowed to do that?
BTW - any news on when you can give us a general update on what's going on with LJ and userepdom?
i hope to have something big update posted next week.
I'm already on it. It's a full blown storm on facebook already. Many thanks for the heads up. | |
