The vet taking care of that cast off orange tabby posted this to the City Kitties Facebook page: "When I left this evening he was up to 97 degrees, on his second bowl of food and trying to groom himself. Keeping our fingers crossed....he was purring...will have more information in the morning"

REposted. Have many English and European friends who think the owners should be prosecuted for cruelty to animals. The UK has laws that allow this, what is the situation in the US?

It varies state by state. Pennsylvania has animal cruelty laws. Philadelphia, unfortunately, is so inundated with other crimes that things have to be really, really bad before the District Attorney's office will prosecute. Of the handful of cases I saw in my eight years as a public defender there, almost all involved dog fighting.

That is sad, but at least it should be enough to prevent them from re-claiming the poor creature should they be insensitive enough to try.

Oh those owners should be prosecuted! This baby looks like my Sebastian. If I could get him out to California I'd take him in a heart beat. What a cutie. Any clue as to what is wrong with him? My Bash has Chronic Renal Failure but I'm doing all I can to treat him.
