Trillian looks gorgeous! She is a beautiful mermaid. I found it a little funny when they had Trillian's real name in the interveiw, because in my mind Trillian is her name. It just suits her so much. I can't imagine her really being anything else. |
When I was little I always wanted to be a mermaid. There was always something so magical about them. Growing up my mom told me a story about how my grandfather who was a fisherman survived floating in the ocean for three days after his boat exploded. My mom always took us to the beach once or twice a week during the summer as well and taught us to revere and respect the ocean and the animals that lived in it. I always imagined that we must be at least part mer people and of course mermaids must have kept my grandfather company for those three days and kept him safe from sharks.
Then I met my husband and after we had only been married for a few months talked about one day when we would have children what it might be like. He told me we'd have a girl and he wanted to name her Ariel. I looked at him surprised, because I'd never told him my love of mermaids. He told me that of course she would be a mermaid. His little mermaid. About a year later I became pregnant. The doctors had told me when I was younger that I would never have children. But they don't know the powers of Mer people. Sure enough when the baby was born it was a girl and she is named Ariel. She now has a little sister who is named Jackilyn Noa, who everyone calls Captain Jack. She told us that she's part pirate sea captain and part mer people. But of course when she comes from a long line of Mer people who love the ocean.
So little girls should never doubt or loose hope, because it's always possible to be a mermaid if you truly believe. ;)
