Do you have 80 purses/camera bags none of which is perfect?
Looking for a partner in crime for custom camera bag design. Must have sewing machine and firm Zombie Apocalypse sensibilities. Photographer preferred. This is a paid gig. Email me for conspiracy; send list of your 5 essential bug out bag items.

Best of luck. None of my bags have been satisfactory since I got into larger cameras (D200, d700, especially with battery grip). I think most of the designs are leftovers from the old world.
we will fix this. or at least some of it.
In my bug out bag (which is not the same as my camera bag), water purification kit, trenching tool, emergency sleeping bag-ish thing, emergency rations for me and my cats, and a small backpacking sized tent.
ETA: The bug-out bag itself is capable of holding water. There are other critical items in it too, but you asked for the top 5.

If I didn't live so far from a decent fabric place, I'd take you up on the challenge.
However, we have a friend who designs custom bags and gear for the Dutch army--he's got an industrial sewing machine and if he makes it for you, it will outlast you and the zombies. I can put you two in touch, if you'd like.
I have lots and lots of bags that don't work... quite... and a kick-ass sewing machine, though I don't know if my skills are quite up to working out a prototype or not. The ideal bag probably has to use TARDIS technology, be made of soft, pliable, waterproof indestructium, and cost about $5. Bonus points if it can curve to fit the body so it doesn't carry like a big, clunkity fabric box of heavy. MUST have a fairly well protected compartment so my lunch won't get all over my lenses. The interior would be a light color so I can actually see what's in there. I think I'll make some sketches...
I want a copy of the pattern! :)
i like borrowing a line from "tron: legacy" to describe myself: looking for the perfect bag, which doesn't exist and is right in front of me.
Will spread the word around and see if we can find someone. I hereby volunteer to be a test case for designs, if you need sield testing.
Sorry to hijack, but I can't get on Facebook at work so just wanted to see how you all were doing in the storm!
oops! we did fine in the storm. one lawn chair blew over. that was it.
