Clark Kent - R.I.P. [Feb. 4th, 2013|09:40 am]
[mood |gratefulgrateful]
[music |lana del rey]

In November of 2011 some people in West Philadelphia noticed that their cat was sick, so they threw him outside to die. He collapsed in a gutter, was found by some good samaritans and taken in by City Kitties. He was nearly dead but their emergency care and an influx of funding from you saved his life. He recovered and was adopted. Soon after it was discovered that he had kidney failure and bone cancer -- everybody knew he was going to die and they set about making his last days on earth as full of joy as possible. He died last Friday, peacefully at his home surrounded by his adopted family and after a year of being showered by love and attention - all he remembered were the good times.

You can read about Clark's story starting here.

This isn't a sad story, though it has sad elements. It's really a story about a scrappy cat with a will to live and a bunch of people from around the world banding together to do good things, and all this warms my heart. You can help City Kitties do more things like this by fostering or adopting a cat -- that's the most helpful thing you can do. If you can't do that, you can always send money, and if you can't do that, you can take a step out of your way today to be kind to an animal.
