there's more to life than goth photography

is there? i'm probably making that up. anyway. i'm pleased to say i was able to drag my absinthe addled body out of bed this morning to photograph the transit of venus

lousy image quality is due, probably in equal parts, to my $50 "zycor" 500mm lens and my $2 "happy birthday" solar filter.

kyle (who was once gainfully employed as an astronomer at the Franklin Institute whereupon grevious peer pressure from the other nerds forced him to learn morse code at 13 wpm in order to get the general class ham radio license that he's pretty much never used since then but-it-was-so-cool-to-talk-to-the-other-astronomers-on-the-radio) cassidy

we grilled a pizza

indeed. sky heard you could do it, i made the dough, gary grilled it, we all ate it. it was a great night. met gary's friend justin who teaches at uarts, sat out in the back yard, saw the season's first lightning bug and a baby opossum about six inches long, it walked through the yard twice.
