little bit of paradise in philadelphia -- 5:45 a.m. -- both roomba's upstairs cleaning away, occasionally bumping into a door or making a squeal of delight, giant boo cup 'o tea, news on the radio, leasurely made breakfast of fried tofu, zucchini, and onions, with braised asparagus spears, cats sitting happily in the window watching the crepuscular glow. sleeping pills working, dishes done, clothes washed, bed made, living room cleaned, litter boxes emptied, hours before i have to be anywhere or do anything.......

and people ask why on earth i want to get up at 5:00 a.m.....

i didn't want to make a general announcement until it was finalized, but in september Videomaker Magazine, for whom I've been writing off and on for about six years, offered me a job as Contributing Editor -- which I accepted. I'd basically been doing the job without the title for at least a year anyway. The position is trial for six months, starting in the January (which is the current issue) to see if I could keep up with the writing schedule. I had the first four articles in within two weeks and just finished the sixth as the first one came to press, so I'm assuming this will probably turn into a more or less permanant thing. Now if you see me with a laptop in a coffeeshop it's cause i'm a journalist not because i'm downloading pr0n.

The issue that's on the stands now features two fingers of luminel's left hand.
