photos, finally

I was waaaay down in the south of florida yesterday, almost in danger of falling off into the ocean and being washed out to cuba. I met Michael and his daughter Liberty down there (and General Beauregard, the cat). I had a long talk with Michael about why he owned guns. He had a couple of interesting and elloquent points. One of which, and I'm paraphrasing here without my notes, was: "Our house was flattened by hurricane Andrew, and the roof was ripped off by Wilma, then Katrina came through, and we don't live in the nicest neighborhood, and when your house is cracked open and the streets are crawling with looters, someone's always on gun duty. We'd like to move, we're at the end of our rope, but we really just don't have the money."

And he also said (again, I'm paraphrasing without my notes -- he was more elloquent) "If my [Jewish] people were armed in Germany, I don't think the Holocaust would not have happened, but I think it would have happened differently."

Today I'm off to West Palm.
