My plane landed half an hour early yesterday getting me on the road in good time and excellent spirits. The first stop was Caroline Stevermer
author of the wonderfully named The Mislaid Magician or Ten Years After: Being the Private Correspondence Between Two Prominent Families Regarding a Scandal Touching the Highest Levels of Government and the Security of the Realm
and many other books of young adult fantasy.
Then off to David and Pamela's where I avoided being eaten by enormous cats. Pamela is famous for, among other things, Tam Lin
of which Publishers weekly said: "Dean has written a quintessential college novel, anchoring its fantastic elements in a solid, engaging reality." Someone once described her to me as "having no lukewarm fans -- people either don't know her, or they eat drink and breathe her." Her office photo is going to be a special treat.
They plied me with scotch and a guest bedroom filled with cats and I slept like a baby.
This morning it was early to rise and off to lyda222
's who writes science fiction as Lyda Morehouse and "paranormal romance" as Tate Hallaway. (She also claimed that only three people read her blog, not seeming to realize that I'm one of them.)
If you're going to read a romance novel, it really ought to have vampires. And zombies. And the goddess Lilith sharing the body of the heroine, and turning into bridezilla. Really. Like Dead If I Do
I'm sitting at a swell middle-eastern cafe chowing down falafel. Two more portraits tonight then crashing at Chez Gaiman with wacky and wonderful things to come.
Here's Lyda's writing space:
