October 8th, 2009

it's now already.

We're back.

Amazing weekend. Big post about it coming up. I've been writing it down in my notebook with a pen. Still a few weeks behind in email. (If you sent me something I should respond to and you haven't heard back, feel free to send a gentle reminder.)

The weather is turning. It's pitch black when I get up in the morning now and stays black for hours. We light the fire, make tea, breakfast, wait for the sun and greet her with a wave ... the cats still go on the back porch, but now they hope to see a raccoon instead of that grey cat they love to snarl at. Occasionally we get to wear our coats when we go out, the electric blanket can't be far behind and I'm okay with that. I used to think that I belonged to summer, but as I get older, I realize how much I appreciate the change of seasons. We got some big, chunky coffee cups and bowls which make soup and tea seem ... earthy. Trill's been making potato soup a lot.

Ian Nichols got the Montblanc You can read some of his work here he hasn't just published his first book, but he's off to a creative writing program and I expect we'll see wonderful things from him. (If you're all like "Got the Montblanc? wtf are you talking about? Click here to read about the fountain pen giveaway you missed out on.)

One of the local Indian clothing stores is getting rid of all their summer clothes. Trillian's now ready to burst into song at any second, all she needs is two dozen friends and a choreographer.
