Rare Ross Bender Poetry Reading in the Hood!

Some of you may know local poet and crank Ross Bender who's extremely witty interpretations of life in the hood have been gracing the West Philadelphia community listserve for many years now. Ross has decided to come out of hiding to read from his collection: "Tales of the University City Village: The Gentrification of the Hood" at Abbraccio. There will likely be free food and hooch as well as Abbraccio's traditional Italian dining. I wouldn't miss this one for money.

This is from the Abbraccio newsletter:

Sept. 11 - Mon 8 pm "Tales of the University City Village: The Gentrification of the Hood," a FREE reading by Ross Bender in two acts. Ross Bender, who has been variously described as the West Philadelphia "Jonathan Swift" or "Geoffrey Chaucer" (by his friends), and "local crank" (by his detractors) will read from some of his journals about happenings in our local community. (This rare public appearance by Dr. Bender is made possible by a major grant from the Judith Rodin Foundation.) Come early for dinner ...make your reservations now! We also anticipate the unveiling of "Clark Park Bathhouse T-Shirts" by Ms. Dubin.
