So, last night I'm laying in bed reading a novel. Tattiana's sleeping on my legs. Momcat2 has her head on my feet, and Momcat1 is curled up on a towel about 8 inches from my left knee. We're cozy and Tattiana is purring like a maniac. I can hear her, she does this from time to time, just "buzzzzzzzzz buzzzzzzzzzz buzzzzzzzz" like a steel bee in a trash can. Well, after 20 minutes or so, Tatty yawns, gets up, stretches, and hops off the bed to go find something to do. And .... the purring doesn't go away. Sweet Barking Cheese! it wasn't Tatty purring! I look down at cute little momcat2 and I'm like "Baby! You can Purr! you're so happy!" and about three minutes later, she gets up and jumps off the bed.
And the purring hasn't stopped.
It was momcat1 the whole time.
Momcat1, who for two years wanted nothing more than for a piano to fall on my head so she could feast on my jellied flesh, was sitting there less than a foot from me, purring. So I reached out, closer, closer, closer, stuck my finger out ... she leaned out ... sniffed it ... then got up and ran away.
Not just yet. But soon I think.
