So last night Trillian and I went out to XIX (idiot web page plays music when it loads), which is at the top of the Park Hyatt and had some sort of mango drinks and these awesome hours devours made out of mushrooms, goat cheese, and chopped walnuts baked inside some sort of pastry. They were incredible. Then we went to the Continental (idiot web page plays music when it loads) for dinner. I had, really, the most fabulous grilled tofu. Then we went to Pod, this sushi restaurant / bar that looks very much like the 1960's idea of "the future", the staff all wear blue jumpsuits, floors are concrete, furniture all red and white molded plastic -- i can't really describe how cool it is. One of the features of Pod are ... two pods where you can sit, if you're lucky enough to come in while they're available, because they don't take reservations for the pods, and eat and drink AAAAAND, change the color of the light in the pods from blue, to purple, to yellow, to lavender, to green -- with a giant set of push-buttons on the wall. It's like being a kid, but for adults.
afterwards we went back to Casa Del Milla and a few friends popped over. Trillian and I have been reading The Rover Boys in the Mountains (where arthur m. winfield does not disappoint with ludicrous adventures and character names like "pegleg snuggers" the 'man of all work' and the evil villain, "jasper grinder") but instead, last night we listened to three episodes of Dimension X! (say it loud and let the "X" echo in your head a few times "X, X, x, x, x, ....") with the lights out. It was great fun.
(And I'm now taking applications for someone to unplug my phone, stand guard at my front door turning away rock stars, well wishers, and party animals, disconnect my Internet, and keep Roswell busy while I finish up the book proposal for Breakfast With Roswell -- there has been some movement on that front and I need to get the proposal finished up this week.)
