War Paint

William Cryer fought his way house by house through Kosovo, through the caves of Afghanistan, and through narrow streets in Iraq as part of a five man Force Recon team.. Now that he's back he can't find a job, but he remains the most up-beat person I can recall meeting.

"I'm a Marine," he says, "and this is the best thing I could have possibly done with my life."

My manuscript for War Paint is due at the publishers on Sunday. Thanks to people like William, it feels like a real book. I'm excited, happy, and proud to have met all these people.
