Intern: "I made you a Pinterest account!"
Me: "Oh. Okay."
Intern: "It auto followed 2123 people."
Me: "This helps me how?"
Intern: "If I send you a list, can you let me know which ones you want to follow?"
Me: "Um, no."
Intern: "Shall I just pick interesting ones?"
Me: "Will it all be football players and climbing gear?"
--------- later ------------
Intern: "Shall I just pin some things for you?"
Intern: "Pins make up boards."
Intern: "You group pins together in boards and share them."
Me: "STOP MAKING ME OLD!"
You can track down all of the pictures of Roswell that people have shared.
people have shared pictures of roswell?!
Hah, you got his interest.
I have no idea, but I assume so. Roswell is a rockstar.
You have an intern, I asked with vague envy?
What in the world is Pinterest?! AIGH NO MORE SOCIAL NETWORKS PLZ
I think it's Pee Interest, something to do with sharing a yellow liquid.
Pinterest does several things extremely well and other things not well at all. I don't use it as social networking at all, because I have Facebook, Twitter, LJ, etc, most of which do it better, but I do use it to find interesting images other people are sharing using search terms (most recent include "vintage hat" and "teal dress"). It's helpful as part of our wedding planning and I use it to save dresses, DIY details and color palates I like. I also used it as a way to share a bunch of different source material with my tattoo artist.
For me, Pinterest is about the WHAT: it's a crowd-curated group of images and a convenient way to save images for future reference. I couldn't care less about the WHO, and I don't think I follow anyone.
Sorry, meant to reply to Kyle's post, not your comment specifically!
Huh, when I was informed that Kyle Cassidy was following me, I thought I was special, not one of 2123... ;)
I use it as a handy place to store things I think are neat, like recipes, and projects ideas. Also good for time wasting, when I should be updating my website... Hmmm on the other hand, isn't that what Facebook is for?
Oh, for the record, I just shared your latest Roller Derby post on there this morning, with proper attribution, etc.
