I was working and things were going swimmingly and then I accidentally read the first paragraph of Donna Lynch's new novel, Driving Through the Desert.

And now I can't do anything else until I've finished it.

"It is near dark, I am speeding, sweating, trying not to choke. You are lying in the back seat, and Leondard Cohen is coming through the speakers, singing a letter about a guy and a girl and this famous blue coat. It is not cold yet, but it will be soon, and before the song is over, you will be dead."

Free for Amazon Prime members, $2.99 on Kindle and $10 for the paperback or $45 for the hardcover.
