On my way to Los Angeles to photograph John Carpenter -- I'll be there till monday. Still need to put together the blog post about Readercon which I'll try and get to during the slow parts of the weekend and I'm guessing there will be a bunch of those. It was a swell time, saw many people, we made a story out of nothing and photographed it and it looks nice.
I met Liz Hand while I was out there and then listened to the audible.com audiobook of her novel "Available Dark" which I liked very much. It's a thriller set in Iceland about a failed photographer and junkie (I guess she's a successful junke, and a failed photographer) who gets caught up in murder and kidnapping set amongst the brutal cold, hot springs, and ancient religion of the Vikings. There's also lots of vinyl record fetishinzing in it.
Got to meet Barry Longyear, which was a lifetime goal of mine, he's written two of what I'd always thought were the best science fiction stories ever. I got to listen to him grumble and spin yarns in the green room and then went with trillian_stars to hear him read a story which was very funny and nicely written and made me care about baseball for 30 minutes.
More on all this in a couple of days, with pretty pixtures.
War Paint seems to be doing nicely, amazon seems to have trouble keeping it in stock which is good and bad. (You can get a copy here if you haven't already, and if you have, you can also write a review.)
There was a Military Times story about it.
Have a swell day, I'm going to go back to bouncing around like a bean in a tin can.
