Trillian's next play is Battle Hymn which is part of the Republican Theater Festival November 12th-14. Battle Hymn is the story of a woman who fights to keep a religious statue from being torn down in a public park. Cara Blouin, the festival's director has long fought to bring ideas to audiences through theater and spark meaningful conversations between people who might not otherwise meet and have a meaningful conversation. She was behind the 2011 feminist powerhouse Dan Rottenberg is Thinking about Raping You and she's (it seems) realized that if you want to spark meaningful dialogue, you can't just make plays that only people who believe the same things you do come to see. So she's invited a bunch of (mostly) left wing actors to see the world through plays written by conservatives. Which I think is a noble idea. You should come and stick around afterward and talk to people. I think one of the most valuable things you can have in life is a friend who you respect who doesn't agree with you.
